Do not smoke

These plaques come from the bankruptcy stock of a hardware shop in La Rochelle and date from the early 1960s. Apparently, the shopkeeper, Monsieur Lambert had only sold about 2 in the last 40 years; such was the antipathy towards restrictions on where people could smoke. Very French! Today these beautifully handmade and hand-enamelled signs are more relevant than ever before and would make a great present for someone who is trying to stop or has just stopped.
