Lumière
This is huge! It is not only physically impressive but visually too. It is a double-sided enamel plaque advertising a make of film; Lumichrome by Lumière. The Lumière brothers, Auguste Marie Louis Nicolas and Louis Jean, were among the earliest filmmakers. Appropriately, "lumière" translates as "light" in English. The enamelling is of the highest quality and is signed by Strasbourg, one of the great enamel producers. You can see the enamel loss on this side of the plaque from the above photograph. On the reverse side there is a long dink on the “L” of "Lumière". There are also some scratches, but nothing to detract from the overall beauty of the plaque. Personally I think the dinks and enamel loss just add to the character of the piece and of course it is only to be expected of an item of this age. Dimensions: height ~ 87.50cm, width at the widest point ~ 90cm,
