Pink enamel salt box

Pink is one of the rarest colours to find enamel items in and I would normally put an item this damaged into the “Bazaar” section. However, due to the rarity of it not only being pink but also being a salt box I felt it would be best in this section. As you can see above it has suffered quite a bit of enamel loss particularly along the edges. Inside there is a little bit of enamel loss and oxidisation but still very useable. Like all enamel salt boxes, I would advise that due to its corrosive nature salt is first put into a container then into this box. The gold lettering has faded through time but can still be read. A wonderful piece that despite showing its age is full of character and patina. Great for a collector of pink enamel, or maybe to start a collection off.
